“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh…” — Joel 2:28
What a glorious and remarkable declaration from God through the prophet Joel! Long before the coming of Christ, God revealed His divine plan for humanity: a time would come when His Spirit would no longer rest upon only a selected few, but would be poured out upon all flesh.
And glory to God—this prophecy has been fulfilled!
On the Day of Pentecost, the Bible records:
“…there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind… And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost…” (Acts 2:2–4).
That moment marked a new era in God's relationship with humanity. The Holy Spirit was poured out, and His ministry became available to people everywhere. Today, the Gospel can be preached to every nation, tribe, and individual with the assurance that the Spirit of God is already at work in the hearts of men.
No one can truly know Jesus Christ apart from the ministry of the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who convicts the human heart and reveals the truth, righteousness, and reality of Christ (John 16:7–8).
Consider the moment when Jesus asked His disciples:
“…Whom say ye that I am?” (Matthew 16:15).
Peter answered:
“…Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:16).
Jesus immediately responded:
“…Flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 16:17).
Peter's understanding did not come through human reasoning or natural knowledge. It came through divine revelation.
Furthermore, Jesus said in John 6:44:
“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him…”
How does the Father draw men to Christ today?
He does so through the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is actively working in the hearts of people everywhere. He makes men and women receptive to the Gospel, opens their hearts to the truth, and grants them the ability to believe in Jesus Christ.
This is why you must never become discouraged when preaching the Gospel.
You are not working alone.
The Spirit has already been poured out upon all flesh! He is at work in every city, every nation, and every culture, preparing the hearts of men to receive the message of salvation.
Your responsibility is to boldly and faithfully proclaim the Gospel. As you speak the truth, the Holy Spirit works through the message—convicting hearts, convincing men of the truth, drawing them to Christ, and transforming their lives.
Therefore, preach with confidence. Share the Gospel without fear. Speak the Word with boldness, knowing that the Spirit of God is already at work.
The Spirit has been poured out!
And through the Gospel, lives are being changed, hearts are being opened, and men and women are being brought into the glorious knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Glory to God!
Prayer / Confession
Dear Father, thank You for the glorious outpouring of Your Spirit upon all humanity. Thank You for the privilege of being a minister of the Gospel and a partaker of the ministry of the Spirit.
As I proclaim the Gospel, hearts are opened and prepared to receive the truth. Lives are transformed, and many are brought into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
I boldly proclaim Your Word with confidence, knowing that Your Spirit is at work in the hearts of men everywhere. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, many receive salvation and come into the glorious knowledge of Christ.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.
